The Grid lamp designed by Brian Rasmussen takes its name from the Forex grid which distinguishes its design, that is both functional and decorative at the same time. The Grid lamp has a classical, yet original shape: the hemispherical and regular shape of the dome is supported by the criss-crossing lines that give the lamp movement. Here are the designer’s thoughts about the idea behind Grid: “The anti-glare grid could stand it no longer. It has been hanging there for a lifetime – motionless, fixed, still. The grid wanted to know what it was like to be a decorative element instead of a mere technical and functional requirement, so one night, when no one was around, the grid let go and, helped by the force of gravity, created a new shape. The whole structure was kept together by a dear friend: the dome. This is how Grid came to be”.
